This quarterly update provides insights on the discount rate, one of the key assumptions for valuing long-term employee benefit liabilities. We consider the potential movement in discount rates between 31 March 2018 and 30 June 2018 and then highlight the implications of these changes on the value of the liabilities in a company’s accounts- the Defined Benefit Obligation.
