David Kong
David joined Milliman's Singapore office as an associate in 2011. He qualified as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 2013.
Experience
Prior to Milliman, David was part of the embedded value reporting team in Aviva USA, focusing on market consistent embedded value (MCEV) reporting. He was also involved in the European embedded value (EEV) to MCEV conversion project.
Besides traditional non-participating products, he also has experience in modeling fixed/indexed universal life with secondary guarantees like no-lapse guarantees.
David has worked with MG-ALFA® extensively for model redesign, reconciliation, controls and maintenance projects. He has also done stochastic asset liability modeling as well as VIF/TVOG analysis work.
His recent assignments include:
- Carrying out appraisal valuations of life insurance companies using Traditional Embedded Value (TEV) basis in recent merger and acquisition projects in various countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand.
- Building actuarial models from scratch in MG-ALFA for several recent Indonesian sell-side valuation projects
- Carrying out market analysis on life insurance industries in South East Asia
- Assisting in appointed actuary services for insurers in Singapore
- Carrying out research for recent conference papers on the Singapore retirement industry focusing on the feasibility of introducing equity release schemes and variable annuities
David is also proficient in multiple languages, including English, Bahasa, Mandarin and Cantonese.
