Jeremy Cunningham
Jeremy is a principal and consulting actuary with the Indianapolis office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2011.
Experience
Jeremy has over 10 years of experience providing actuarial support to state Medicaid agencies and health plans, including capitation rate-setting, provider rate setting, risk adjustment, financial impacts of policy and program changes, and other Medicaid functions.
He provides consulting expertise to a variety of clients for the behavioral health and intellectual/developmental disabilities populations, including rate development, risk adjustment, provider rate development, and monitoring of behavioral health and home and community-based services. Over the last several years, he has spent significant time working with clients to understand the cost and financial impact of the full array of mental health and substance abuse services, in particular for new benefits that were identified as gaps in the care continuum.
Jeremy has also led the development of multiple dynamic dashboards including DRIVE, which is a web-based application that allows users to visualize and quickly manipulate their historical experience data relative to benchmark data, including evaluating the quality of the underlying encounter data supporting the capitation rate development. Lastly, he has demonstrated through his numerous publications the ability to communicate difficult concepts in concise, accurate, and an understandable manner. He regularly communicates with state Medicaid personnel, representatives from managed care organizations (MCO), and federal officials in both written and oral mediums.
